Provides assistance to qualified individuals and families. Intended to meet the local needs of families to overcome immediate barriers and help them become and stay self-supporting. Assistance available includes: Employment related expenses such as: -Vehicle repairs. - Driver's license fees (new or expired, does not include reinstatement). - Reimbursements for tools, equipment, uniforms, shoes/boots, and so forth. - Fingerprinting costs. - Gas vouchers for new employment (until receipt of first paycheck). Shelter/Housing expenses such as: - Rent or deposit for forestalling court-ordered evictions in rentals. - Bills to forestall utility shutoffs (gas, electric and water). - Fuel oil and propane purposes. - Emergency shelter due to fire, natural disaster, states of emergency, or domestic violence situations. Kinship assistance includes: - For a new kinship caregiver within six (6) months of a child moving into the home: Furniture and other items needs to care for children in the home. - Once a child(ren) has been with a kinship provider for more than six (6) months: There is an available reimbursement of child care costs up to four (4) months a year.

Provides non-recurring, emergency benefits to help families to meet basic needs and/or sustain employment, -Family Strengthening and Preservation Services Provides temporary Rental/Mortgage assistance to prevent eviction or homelessness. Provides GED Testing Fees. Other Family Strengthening and Prevention Services may be available through a referral from Protective Services division. Benefit Cap: $2,000 -Diversion/Contingency Services Provides temporary Utility Assistance with disconnect or less than 10-day supply (Electric, Natural Gas, Propane, Water & Sewer, or Fuel Oil). Benefit cap: $1,500 (no more than $750.00 for each utility) -Disaster Services Provides temporary assistance with home repair or replacement of necessary household items following a disaster such as house fire, flood, etc. Benefit cap: $2,500 -Subsidized Employment Program (SEP) Provides reimbursement to the employer for 50% of the new hire’s wages for 4 months. Now includes Tiffin City School students enrolled/placed at a work site through their BRAG program. -Vehicle Repairs Provides temporary assistance for working families when facing unexpected vehicle repair costs. Participants must be in full-time training for in-demand credential or actively working 20 hours per week. Repairs must be completed by a participating vendor. Regular vehicle maintenance is not included. Benefit cap: $2,000. -Employment and Training (Employment Readiness) Services Provides temporary assistance with Training and Employment costs such as uniforms, tools, tuition, books, mileage reimbursement, etc. First time drivers’ license training fees and drivers’ license fees. Cap determined by type of benefit: Services up to $500, or up to $6,500 for Training, or $500 max for drivers’ training and license fees. -Vehicle Fuel Assistance Provides temporary assistance toward the purchase of vehicle fuel for employment only (travel to/from worksite). Participant must be working at least 20 hours per week. Benefits issued though a Purchase Authorization (voucher) that must be used at agency approved vendor. Benefit cap: $100 per month / per person (Limited to 4 months) - Employment Retention Provides temporary incentive payments to participants to maintain continuous full-time employment (32 hours per week). Benefit payments are issued following 30 days ($300), 60 days ($500), and 120 days ($700) of continuous employment. -WrapAround Services / Service Coordination and Youth Mentoring / Afterschool Program This now includes funding to help SMYL with operating costs for TANF eligible youth enrolled in their mentoring program and Afterschool Program. Cap determined by type of benefit: Wraparound max $1,500 per family, SMYL $2,500 per enrolled youth or Afterschool Program $2,500 per enrolled youth. -Kinship Caregiver Program Provides assistance with childcare expenses for individuals meeting the ORC 5101.85 definition of “Kinship Caregiver” caring for a child in place of the child’s parents. Additional supportive services and/or Kinship Incentive Payments may also be available through a referral from the Protective Services Division.

Prevention, Retention And Contingency (PRC) - Employment/education | Cuyahoga County Job And Family Services

Provides aid to families in the form of a voucher to buy items or pay for services that are emergencies and non-recurring (a situation not extending beyond 4 months) and which cannot be addressed using existing community resources. Assistance is provided only for items that are essential for the applicant's employment, job training, or education such as: car repairs (does not cover normal "wear and tear" items such as oil change, tires, brake pads); work clothing and uniforms, washer or dryer (only if needed for work purposes), and education related equipment (such as tools). Maximum assistance limits (once per calendar year): $500 for education-related equipment, $225 for work or education uniforms, $750 for car repairs (additional restrictions also apply). In addition to these specific limits, applicant cannot exceed yearly limit of $1,500 in aid from the overall PRC program ($750 if non-custodial guardian). Does not help with short term transportation needs such as gas cards or bus fare. Does not help with GED testing fees.

The Microfinance Program can provide affordable loans up to $2,000 so families can improve and maintain their homes and their quality of life without seeking out payday or high-interest predatory loans. Loans available for: - Replacement of countertops, cabinets, flooring, doors, windows, etc. - Repair (if manufactured within the last 15 years) or replacement of appliances - Repair of porches, decks, roof, etc. - Painting - Upgrades for energy efficiency - Accessibility projects (e.g., ramp). - Vehicle Repair funds may be available if the automotive repair could be linked to staying housed (example: fix vehicle to get to work to pay for housing). Funds may be used to address “quality of life” issues for Southeast Ohio residents in order to maintain and sustain their current housing.

For Basic Automotive Service: Provides basic automotive repair services, including brakes, suspension, underbody, and some engine work. Labor is free, customer is charged for parts.
