Domestic Violence - Advocacy | Euclid City Of - Department Of Parks And Recreation

Contacts domestic violence victims within 24 hours of referral. If the victim is willing to pursue court action, will accompany and transport them to the prosecutor and to court. Provides a packet of domestic violence information to the victim, and encourages them to participate in a support group and/or counseling. Informs victims of the State Victims of Crimes program, and will assist them in filling out the necessary forms.

Crime Victim Support | Ywca Of Northwest Ohio

Provides support and assistance to victims of domestic violence needing help understanding the judicial process. Can answer questions regarding custody, criminal charges, protection orders, dissolution and divorce, and property issues. Advocates may attend legal and court appointments with the victim as requested. Advocates are NOT attorneys, but can assist with filing for Victim Compensation as well as provide screenings and referrals for legal aid.

Family Support Program | Asian American Community Services

Provides support and assistance to Asian survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. Also assists Asian survivors of hate crimes involving race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, nationality, age, gender or political affiliation. Educates survivors about their options and assists with decisions involving the legal system, court proceedings, medical care and pursuing their education. Provides case management, referrals and emotional support.

Provides a specialized advocate to assist victims of domestic violence as they proceed through the criminal justice system. Advocates do not work for the state, the city, the county or the police department and are therefore not obligated to disclose any information shared by a victim. Will provide support and accompaniment to meetings and court proceedings.

Victim Notification System | United States Federal Bureau Of Investigation

Provides a free, automated victim notification system (VNS). Notifications can include information about investigative status, criminal charges filed, outcome of charges, scheduled court proceedings, and the offender’s custody status. All VNS notifications contain a Victim Identification Number (VIN) and a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that will allow access to VNS via the Internet and the Call Center. NOTE: This service provided through a partnership with US Attorney's Office and the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Victim Services | Cleveland Rape Crisis Center

Provides support, assistance and legal education to survivors of rape, sexual assault or sexual abuse when survivors choose to prosecute the offenders. Explains the legal aspects of rape and assault (but does not give legal advice), facilitates communication between client and other parties such as police and the courts, helps clients write Victim Impact Statements, and assists with dealing with the Ohio Parole Board. Helps clients access programs for victims of crimes in the State of Ohio and makes referrals to lawyers.

Hospital Advocacy | Cleveland Rape Crisis Center

Provides support and assistance in the hospital emergency room to victims of rape, incest, and sexual assault as well as the families of those assaulted. Volunteers meet survivors at the hospital and stay with the victim through the physical exam and the police report. Volunteers bring a kit for survivor, which includes clothes.

Provides stabilization support, trauma counseling, and assistance with any other immediate needs to secure their safety, such as emergency housing, transportation, and legal services to those who have experience a serious violent crime (e.g. rape, sexual assault, and robbery). An advocate will also help victims apply for victim compensation and will, if needed, arrange for victims to receive more specialized assistance, such as substance abuse treatment, sexual assault or domestic violence services, legal advocacy, or other community supports.
