Investigates housing discrimination complaints throughout the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) and provides advocacy services for persons who believe they have been encountered discrimination in housing (both in the public and private sector, whether rental units or purchased housing). If necessary the agency can do discrimination testing to confirm discrimination allegations. Can also make referrals to outside agencies for legal and other related services. Also conducts educational workshops for landlords, rental agents, real estate agents, and others as to what constitutes discrimination in housing. And how they can best comply with the law.

Advocates facilitate interactions between the client and law enforcement officers and other court personnel, accompany victims to court, obtaining a civil protection order, and assist in the completion of victim impact statements and requests for victim notification. Provides application forms and information about filing a claim for victim compensation. Offers counseling, crisis intervention, and referrals. Will provide speakers who can give presentations about agency services and crime victim topics.

Connects people in need of legal assistance with a pre-screened, experienced, qualified, and local attorney. Participating attorneys must meet experience criteria in their areas of practice and carry liability insurance in order to be a member of the referral service. In some cases, the following appointments can be arranged: house calls, knowledge of foreign languages, evening appointments and referrals to attorneys licensed in other states.
Provides free legal assistance via phone regarding problems that affect older adults living in Ohio. Subject areas include civil law issues such as consumer problems, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, subsidized housing, wills and estates. If the legal problem cannot be solved over the phone, the client may be referred to a private attorney who can provide the service. Also offers pamphlets on a variety of legal topics.

Provides lawyer referral services to connect the general public to attorneys in a various areas of law.

Provides a number of services to families to enable them to make arrangements for the long-term care of disabled family members. Services include referrals to lawyers who deal with disability law as well as help drafting documents to detail individual wishes for dealing with disabled family under their care. Provides assistance with establishing and managing "pooled" financial trusts, where the assets of a number of disabled beneficiaries are pooled for purposes of investment, but separate accounts are kept for each participating individual. Also funds can only be used for supplemental services such as recreational items, according to federal law. Service includes setting up the trust, receiving, submitting, and disbursing fund requests, and providing periodic statements on individual accounts. Program is administered in conjunction with a community foundation that provides financial oversight and compliance with federal laws.
