Types of Child Care: 1. Child Care Centers: Your child receives care in a setting designed for groups of children. Child care centers are licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services or the Ohio Department of Education. 2. Family Child Care Homes: • Type B Homes: Anyone can operate a Type B Home without a license. However, care for more than six children requires a license. Type B Homes must be licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services if the child care is paid for with public funds. • Licensed Type B Homes: Your child is cared for in the home of a family child care provider who has met state minimum health and safety requirements and is licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. • Type A Homes: Your child is cared for in the home of a family child care provider who is licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. The family child care provider may care for seven to twelve children (or four to twelve children if four children are under two years of age). The family child care provider's own children under six years of age must be included in the total count.

Foster Home Placement

Places children who are in need of alternative living arrangements within appropriate family homes that are licensed to provide foster care.

Services to provide foster homes for families who, because of a family crisis, can not remain together. Severe alcoholism, inadequate care and supervision of children, physical or sexual abuse, severe financial problems, mental or physical illness, loss of parents through death or desertion or severe marital stress are examples of why children come into foster care. The length of placement can be for short periods of time, sometimes just for a weekend, or for several years. During that time foster parents receive a small stipend for the child in order to defray the costs of food, housing and clothing, and school supplies. Medical expenses for the child are also paid by the county. Foster Parent training is also offered for those interested, call for class schedule..
