Crawford County Job and Family Services partners with The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, Inc. (AAA) to administer the Adult Protective Services program. As a leader in the Aging Network, AAA offers an array of programs and services that promote the independence and safety of older adults. Highly trained and specialized AAA Adult Protective Services Case Workers handle reports made to the Crawford County Job and Family Services for alleged elder abuse, neglect or exploitation.

MCDJFS is required by Ohio law to investigate reports of abuse, neglect, self-neglect or exploitation of county residents age 60 or over. Adult Protective Services aims to achieve and ensure an adult's freedom, safety, least disruption of lifestyle, and the least restrictive care alternative. Possible interventions include an array of services that are available as funding permits.

HelpLink 211 Dayton

Provides Adult Protective Services for older adults in Adams County. Operates a hotline to report elder abuse, neglect (by self or others), and exploitation. Assigned caseworkers will evaluate reports, make recommendations for support services, and meet with clients and family members to review reports.

Provides protective services and investigates and intervenes on behalf of adults 60 years and older who are alleged to be abused, exploited, neglected, or self-neglected. Social workers meet with the client to assess the concerns and make referrals to community services. When necessary, pursues legal action to protect the victim.

Investigates allegations of abuse, neglect or exploitation of older adults in Clinton County. Provides protective services to reduce or eliminate any risk and arrange for services to assist the adult to remain safely in his/her home when necessary.

These adults may be handicapped due to aging, or they may have physical or mental impairments that prevent them from providing for their own care and protection. When funding and services are available, adults who experience abuse, neglect and/or exploitation are offered support for protection and self-sufficiency

The all reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of individuals 60 years of age and older. The adult protective services worker will assess all such complaints, and if necessary, arrange or provide a wide variety of services to reduce or eliminate the endangerment of these at-risk adults. Emergencies are investigated within 24 hours, and all other reports within three working days.

A Major Unusual Incident (MUI) means the alleged, suspected, or actual occurrence of an incident when the health or welfare of an individual that is receiving services or eligible to receive services through the developmental disabilities system may be adversely affected, or an individual may be placed at a likely risk of harm.
