Responsible for court ordered relationships in which the guardian acts on behalf of the ward. Wards are persons who are not able to care for themselves or their property.

Legal guardianship provided for individuals 60 and older that do not have family or friends to care for them. Staff guardian and volunteer guardians are used in Adult Advocacy Program.

A system of social services for older adults (60+) who may be victims of abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation. Provisions include: -The client has the right to determine how he or she lives. - It is best to use the 'least restrictive alternative' when developing solutions. - If appropriate, family members will be involved in problem solving. - Community based services will be provided, if possible, rather than institutionalization. - Placing blame is not the point. - Intervention is tailored to the needs of the victim and family. Inadequate or inappropriate intervention may be worse than none at all.

Provide temporary shelter for single women and women with children who are homeless. Length of stay is 30 days with goal of moving to stable housing. Assistance with finding permanent housing and other resources.

Investigates cases of alleged abuse (including physical, sexual, verbal, etc.) and neglect, any health or safety issue, or misappropriation situations for adults with developmental disabilities.

Assigned caseworkers will evaluate reports, make recommendations for support services, and meet with clients and family members to review reports.

Investigates alleged abuse and neglect of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Provides guardianship and other decision-making supports for adults with developmental disabilities who are unable to provide informed consent, represent themselves, or manage their own affairs. Guardianships are for persons declared incompetent by the court and unable to manage their affairs. Will help investigate the need for services for those who feel they may be eligible. Maintains an on-call system for timely responses to emergency medical situations by providing informed consent.

Accepts reports and investigates suspected instances of abuse, neglect or exploitation of older adults and people with disabilities that occurred in Kentucky.

Receives and investigates reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of individuals 60 years of age and older. Social service workers assess complaints, and, if necessary, arrange or provide a wide variety of services to reduce or eliminate the endangerment of these at-risk adults.

Appoints a guardian for individuals who are found to be incompetent to handle their own affairs. A guardian may be appointed for either an incompetent adult or a minor. A guardian may be appointed either as guardian of the person, the estate or both. A guardian may be appointed with a limited power to make restricted or specific decisions. The Court may appoint an emergency guardian for 72 hours. The Probate Court also grants petitions for Conservatorships, a voluntary trust in which one party acts with court supervision on behalf of a competent, but physically infirm adult.

Provides a legal proceeding to determine the deceased's assets, the value and the method of distribution to heirs as is provided by law. Reporting abuse, neglect or theft against a person with any type of developmental disability is not only the right thing to do, it’s the law. If you believe someone with a disability has been abused, please call the toll free number and state and local authorities will investigate the incident. Each report of suspected abuse, neglect or theft is confidential. The information provided in a report and the name of the person who made the report shall not be released for use, and shall not be used as evidence in any civil action or proceeding brought against the person who made the report.

Investigates allegations of abuse, neglect or exploitation of older adults in Butler County. Provides protective services to reduce or eliminate any risk and arrange for services to assist the adult to remain safely in his/her home when necessary.
