Enforces public health laws and regulations for portable water wells, ponds, springs, cisterns, or hauled water storage tanks. These would include single water supplies that serve homes, small businesses, small churches, small mobile home parks, or communities with fewer than 25 residents. Also provides permits for the construction or alteration of a private water well, tests water samples, and conducts real estate water system evaluations by request.

Provides water, sewer and stormwater services for the City of Columbus and water/sewer for some contracted suburban communities.

Maintains storm sewer pipes, storm inlets, and open drainage ditches. Operates and maintains the city's water treatment plant and well fields.

Provides water service for the City of Kent. Handles billing issues concerning water.

Monitors and approves the installation of new or replacement sewage systems and private water systems. Maintains a public list of registered septage haulers and contractors who install treatment systems or "clean" sewage tanks. Sanitarians inspect private water hauling equipment and test drinking water for harmful bacteria. Sanitarians also cooperate with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency in the review of the installation of commercial water supply systems.

Oversees the construction of potable water wells, springs, cisterns, and hauled water storage tanks for homes and facilities that provide drinking water serving an average of less than 25 people at least 60 days a year and have fewer than 15 service connections. Provides water testing, issues permits for alteration, new construction or abandonment of private water systems, and assistance for maintenance of systems.

Maintains streets, water and waste water infrastructure, the parks and public buildings. Clears public right of ways of snow and keeps them clean.

Permits and inspects new, replacement, and alterations to private water systems (PWS). Private water systems include: * Wells * Cisterns * Springs * Ponds

The Public Works Department includes the Forestry Division, Street Maintenance Division, and Traffic Control. The Utilities Department includes Sewer Maintenance Division, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Water Distribution Division, and the Water Treatment Plant. Services provided are snow removal, street sweeping, leaf pickup, removal of dead animals (in the street), pothole repair, tree planting and removal (area between curb and sidewalk only), street lights and street signs, and catch basin clean outs.

Clear brush out of alley right-of-ways, trim or remove dead, dying, deceased, or hazard trees on city right-of-ways. Plant trees at request of Shade Tree Commission. Make necessary asphalt patch repairs, crack seal streets, monitor street opening permits from Codes & Permits, patch Water and Sewer street openings. Maintains signs in city limits. Inventory, repair, replace, and install signs. Paint centerlines and skip lines on streets in city limits, also paint turn arrows, crosswalks, and school zones. Maintain traffic signals, annual signal inspection and relamping, downtown street light maintenance. City does not maintain residential street lights, that is Ohio Edison. Picks up dead animals in the city limits that are in the street, not on private property. Clean up debris in the street. Maintain State Routes in the city limits. Mow State Route fields and islands, in the city limits, city right-of-ways, road sides, and guard rails. Water and Sewer maintenance is in the same building.

Maintains safety of city water supply by monitoring for various sources of pollution

Responsible for the maintenance of equipment to obtain and distribute the water supply for the city, and for the treatment of raw sewage for environmentally safe disposal.

Maintains and repairs waterworks for commercial, industrial and residential business in Medina City. Includes hydrant flushing, utility service and water distribution. Takes in complaints about waterworks and requests for repairs.

Operates a water system serves approximately 55,000 people, which includes residents of Cuyahoga Falls, Munroe Falls, and Silver Lake.
