Provides summer residential camp programs for youths who have Type 1 Diabetes. Camp participants engage in fun and educational activities. Different camps are offered such as: traditional sleep-way camp, family camp (where the whole family participates), leadership training, and Buddy Camp (where the child can bring a friend or family member with them). shorter weekend-long camps for teens are also offered. Along with traditional camping activities, Camp Ho Mita Koda provides teaching moments to help build a foundation for proper diabetes management in a closely monitored and safe environment. Develops a personal plan beast suits each individual camper. Camp is supported and works in conjunction with many pharmaceutical companies and hospital systems and are able to provide many supplies for campers while they attend camp.

Provides a supportive environment where participants work together in a small group to learn about healthier eating and increasing their physical activity to reduce their risk for developing diabetes.

Offers a curriculum to better understand diabetes and to help clients take control of their diabetes and manage it. Clients are given information on medical topics, cooking lessons, information on helpful physical activities, and nutrition information.

Provides a connection for public education programs, camps speakers bureaus, and professional education.

The Clark Champaign Diabetes Association in conjunction with the Clark County Combined Health District provides a Diabetic Support group.

Provides a diabetes education program offering information about different aspects of living with diabetes such as eating, planning meals and using insulin. Offers program in a group format for adults and individual instruction for adults and youth.

Provides advocacy for health fairs. The American Diabetes Association publishes materials for the general public, as well as, medical professionals. Booths are set-up at public fairs. Books, literature, slides, video, and trained speakers are available. In-Service Training - Offers free training to health professionals, schools, organizations, and corporations. Topics include emergency procedures, diet, nutrition, exercise, complications, and general detection.

Provides a program that teaches school personnel how to care for children with type 1 diabetes in the classroom.

Sponsors diabetes-related educational programs for the public including talks, seminars, cooking demonstrations, cooking classes and the annual Diabetes Health Fair. Topics for seminars and lectures, led by knowledgeable health-care professionals, range from daily care, to the newest diabetes-related products and updates on research developments.

Provides a program that gives information and support to families with children who are newly-diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes; the bag contains relevant diabetes education materials for children and their caregivers.

Provides test strips for monitoring blood sugar levels, and lancets and/or syringes.

Offers the services of trained speakers who are available to speak to groups about various aspects of diabetes and the Diabetes Association.

Overnight camp, Sunday through Saturday, for children ages 7-17 with diabetes; Counselor Training program runs simultaneously for young adults aged 18-21; this is a medically supervised cabin camping experience including swimming, arts & crafts, meals defined and prepared by dieticians and student intern dieticians; volunteer pediatric endocrinologists and nurses on site for the full duration of camp.

Offers free literature and books about diabetes are available to patients and their families. Will also advise individuals on employment issues, health insurance coverage, legal rights, and other similar issues. Will provide referrals to various community resources.

Offers educational and support meetings and resource materials to raise awareness about the symptoms and dangers of diabetes. Speakers available to talk about diabetes. Offers African-American and Latino outreach initiatives that offers targeted educational information about diabetes.

Provides comprehensive primary care services including general physical examinations, immunizations, assistance with chronic illnesses such as asthma and diabetes, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of minor illnesses and injuries. Also provides comprehensive dental services.

Offers a wide assortment of brochures, literature, newsletters and other related diabetes materials. Answers questions regarding type I diabetes. Offers one-day seminars to equip diabetics and their families with tools and resources to manage this disease.

Support group for those with diabetes, and/or those with family or friends with diabetes, as well as those wishing to pursue a healthy lifestyle. * All services have a faith-based message.

Provides an emergency diabetes supply assistance for individuals who are diagnosed diabetic. Clients can receive one month's worth of supplies (glucometers, strips, syringes, etc.) one time in a 12 month period. Do not provide insulin.

The Disabilities Center at OCALI provides resources, professional development, technical assistance and consultation to educational and adult services programs / practitioners working with individuals who have severe, complex and multiple disabilities. The center combines information, knowledge, and resources in technology, universal design for learning, educational access, LRE and transition to adult life.

Provides packets of information to help adults, teens, or women who are pregnant with Type 1 diabetes; packet includes practical, personal information for every life stage. Also provides a toolkit for schools to learn methods on how to handle school kids with Type 1 diabetes.
