Public Benefits Application And Re-Application Assistance - Help Center | Shared Harvest Foodbank
Provides benefits screening and forms assistance for several government assistance programs (Food Stamps (SNAP), Medicaid, etc.). NOTE: does not help with unemployment. Provides particular focus on signing households up for food stamps (SNAP/Food Assistance). Trained phone staff takes information from the client in order to fill out applications for many programs at once. Applications can be completed and submitted over the phone. Also provides food pantry referrals to the agency's food partner sites in its 5-county service area. Also helps families sign up for the Senior Commodity Box Program.

Provides reimbursement for assistance with daily living activities to individuals with disabilities so they can work, seek employment, or attend school or job training. Will provide reimbursement of up to $8 per hour for up to 35 hours of assistance per week. Covers services that assist with personal needs such as eating, dressing, bathing, housework, shopping and meal preparation. Provides training to participants in recruiting, hiring and managing an assistant, as well as in employer tax responsibilities. Client must be able to handle paperwork.

Services can be requested individually or combined. Can provide limited home bathroom modifications for safety. Does not include skilled nursing services. When program is full, assists those on waiting list to find needed services in the community. Chore services and limited bathroom modifications cannot be assessed without using other services.
