Provides temporary subsidized housing in private rental units throughout Portage County. Assists residents in achieving and maintaining permanent housing, increasing economic and social empowerment and building on family strengths to improve family functioning and self-determination. Clients are provided with case management, budget counseling, life skills education, employment readiness training, vocational & educational assistance, job search assistance, linkage with other services, housing counseling & placement assistance. Goal is to move the client to permanent housing and self sufficiency. Shelter will help clients who are moving from the shelter into stable housing (such as an apartment) with acquiring household items and furniture.
