The purpose of the training is first to educate interested residents, opioid users, their family members or their friends on how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a drug overdose. Participants will also learn how to call emergency medical services, perform rescue breathing and administer naloxone (narcan) nasally. When administered during an overdose, naloxone blocks the effects of opioids on the brain and quickly restores breathing. It has no potential for abuse.
