Federally funded program that helps meet housing needs of individuals with HIV/AIDS. This housing program administers vouchers and other housing assitance for persons (or households with a person) who has AIDS/HIV. This program may have a wait list.

Past due rent and staying in the same apartment: up to two months rent ($750 maximum - once per calendar year). Provides transportation planning, rider training, trip brokerage and coordination, safe-driver training, and the coordination of all transportation options within the county. Specific attention to promoting accessibility, education and awareness to older adults, persons with disabilities, persons with low income, veterans and other underserved populations.

Faith Mission's Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) helps and supports low-income veterans who are either at risk or homeless. This program focuses on preventing homelessness and ensures housing stability for veterans and their families within the community.

Helps those in need of monetary assistance with rent, utilities, prescriptions and emergency lodging (one night, two meals). Help is provided one time during the fiscal year of October 1st - September 30th per household.

Provides financial assistance to residents of Aurora in emergency situations. Will provide limited help with the following situations: utilities (gas, electric, heating fuel), rent, prescriptions and medical expenses, transportation for work purposes (car payments, gasoline, insurance). Other situations may be addressed at the discretion of the agency. NOTE: Agency is not able to help with mortgages (clients will be directed to other services that may help with the situation).

For veterans, dependents of veterans, and survivors. Provides short-term financial assistance covering rent/mortgage, utilities, and food; dental and vision care; and other types of financial assistance on an as-needed basis. All funds are issued directly to the service provider. Can apply every 30 days.

Assists families who are behind in their rent or mortgage to remain in their homes and regain financial stability, as well as security deposit assistance for families in transition. Services vary based on the needs of the individual family, but can include mediation and rent/mortgage payment negotiation with landlord/lender, help accessing utility payment assistance programs, and financial counseling. Up to $1500 in assistance may be available. Support for school-aged children in the household may include access to low-cost computers (funding for computers is currently out). Will also assist with property tax payment to remain in their homes and regain financial stability.

Administers a direct emergency financial assistance voucher program for qualified Veterans, spouses, or dependent children. Assistance may vary per family and can include emergency assistance with food, rent, mortgage, cell phone, utility bills, and internet payment.

The Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) provides rental assistance to very low income families, allowing them the opportunity to live in decent, safe, and affordable housing. HCV Programs are funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and administered by public housing agencies throughout the country. The Knox Metropolitan Housing Authority (KMHA) administers the HCVP Program in Knox County.

Emergency financial assistance for rent/mortgage, utility (gas, water, electric, fuel oil), prescription needs. Does NOT pay for gasoline vouchers.
