This Emergency Service for rental assistance is possible through the Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) and is intended to help low to moderate income families’ deal with life’s unexpected circumstances and provide the support for families to fulfill their day to day obligations and goal for self-sufficiency. Whenever possible CSBG dollars will be leveraged with other funding sources and programs to best fulfill the family’s needs.
The purpose of the Rental Assistance Program is to assist those customers/households, who meet the eligibility requirements and are in need of assistance to prevent an eviction from occurring and to help them maintain normal day to day living responsibilities/obligations. *Priority is given to customers/households that request M.E.O.A.G. Inc Financial/Self Sufficiency guidance and complete the appropriate paper work. The Eviction Assistance program can assist with up to $1,500.00. This program is only available until the end of the CSBG grant period or as long as funding is available. (Whichever comes first).
Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be a resident of Muskingum County
• Must be at or below 200 % of the Federal Poverty Guidelines as established by HHS
• Must provide Income Verification for everyone in the household (based on either 90 days or 12 months income verification)
• Must provide ID (individual applying)
• Must provide social security cards (or crib card if social security card not available) for everyone living in the home
• Assistance limited to one time per household within a 12-month period**
• Must provide eviction notice
• Must provide lease agreement
• Must cooperate with M.E.O.A.G. Inc in leveraging other funding and programs when applicable
. *M.E.O.A.G. Inc maintains the right to determine what constitutes normal day to day living responsibilities/obligations
**Special circumstances may warrant for additional assistance to be provided. These special circumstances will be on a case by case basis for only customers/households participating in the Financial/Self Sufficiency guidance offered by M.E.O.A.G. Inc .

Dispatchers pick up the calls and assess need and refer to our intake volunteers who reach out to the caller and determine the need, as well as offering acceptance, understanding and Christian compassion. After intake calls are made to confirm need, pledges are made to area landlords or utility companies. The Ministry helps with rental assistance, deposits and utility bills. Utility assistance is only offered prior to disconnection.

Provides aid to families in the form of a voucher to pay for rent and/or security deposit where the situation is an emergency and non-recurring (a situation not extending beyond 4 months) and which cannot be addressed using existing community resources.
MAY BE USED FOR:
1. Establishing new household: Security deposit and/or one month rent ($750 maximum - once per calendar year).
2. Past due rent and staying in the same apartment: up to two months rent ($750 maximum - once per calendar year).
In addition, applicant cannot exceed $1,500 in aid from the overall PRC program ($750 if non-custodial guardian). Does not assist with rental application fees.

Up to $1500 in assistance may be available. Support for school-aged children in the household may include access to low-cost computers (funding for computers is currently out).
