Provides a program designed to empower individuals and families to make positive changes in their lives to increase family stability. Offers cooking and nutrition classes. Offers budgeting workshops to help handle finances and to save money. Agency sponsors field trips to thrift stores and discount stores to help the client build shopping strategies. Various "do-it-yourself" workshops are offered (such as how to make laundry detergent). Goal is to help individuals save money and increase their quality of life even if they have a small income. Parenting skills classes are also offered. Will refer to other community services as needed.

Services include: assistance to deaf individuals who need help understanding and managing tasks that require English, such as bills, letters and phone calls, working with bureaucratic entities such as HUD and OJS, and appointments (e.g. with a doctor); basic adult education groups to improve daily living skills such as managing money, health equity, navigating transportation, and making effective use of technology; vocational assistance to those who would like help finding employment; social events to communicate with one another prevent isolation; and workshops open to deaf and hard of hearing and family and friends on issues of importance to the deaf community.

Provides information to aid financial institutions in identifying account applicants who have a history of fraud, account violations, or mishandling. Provides a personal report detailing occurrences of checking and savings account mishandling or usage violations (such as overdrafts and/or bad checks) to individuals who wish to learn what information (if any) ChexSystems is reporting on them. This information stays on the consumer's file for five years. Provides an appeals process for consumers who believe that information on their ChexSystems consumer report contains misinformation. Will make changes to the file if warranted.

All education students can be referred to other May Dugan programming for social service, food assistance, and counseling.

Offers assistance if foreclosure on a home is threatened. Offers HUD-approved home buyer education on topics such as preparing for home ownership and obtaining an affordable mortgage.

Provides information on the tax foreclosure process for those who have been notified that their property taxes are overdue and they are in danger of having their property foreclosed for non-payment. Can assist taxpayers needing to communicate with governmental bodies or with organizations who may have purchased taxpayers' overdue taxes from local governments and who may be in the process of foreclosing on the property.

Provides interest free loans up to $10,000 for people who meet the agency's eligibility requirements. Funds are available for small business, tuition, medical expenses, home improvements (including improvements that increase accessibility in a home), high-interest (predatory) debt on funds borrowed from other sources, and a variety of other needs. May include multiple debts into one loan request as long as amount requested does not exceed $10,000. Checks are written to the organization that is owed, not to the individual.
