Youth programs help guide youth on their way to becoming self-sufficient and productive adults in the Marion community. We assist young adults, ages 14 to 24, in developing the skills, attitudes, and commitment necessary to succeed in today's world of work. Programs include: - Retail Work Study Program - Youth Jobs Program - Summer Youth Program - Youth Job Readiness Training.

Provides an employment program for youth during the Summer months.

Offers community based adult/child mentoring programs; pairs children in one-to-one relationship with caring adult volunteers, provides community service for youth

Provides various monthly community classes such as cooking and nutrition classes, CPR courses, GED classes, fitness classes and health screenings.

The Employment Services program offers a broad range of assessment, training and job placement services and provide on-on-one support to reach personal employment goals. Work Assessments offer opportunities for "job tryouts" with community-based employers to determine areas of interest and existing skill sets. Job Development focuses on the outcome of community job placement. Individuals may receive assistance with resume development, interview proficiency, job search techniques and employer advocacy. Job Coaching assists individuals to develop the skills to be successful in community employment by offering supplemental training and oversight to solidify job performance. Transition Services assist students, ages 14-22, with preparation for employment via career exploration and job readiness training. Job club, Summer Youth and Project SEARCH programs were designed specifically to achieve the employment goals of students transitioning into the workforce. We also provide Job Readiness and Career Exploration classes for Jr. High and High School students from throughout our service area.

youthOPPORTUNITIES is a community-based program in Ashtabula County that offers participants year-round access to a wide variety of services depending on their personal needs. The program focuses on youth who either need help to successfully continue in school and graduate or who need assistance completing their high-school equivalency (GED) while getting and keeping a job and becoming more self-sufficient.

Helps youth set employment and educational goals with the support of an employment specialist. Participating in this program allows youth to work through challenges that are keeping them from finding and retaining a job or completing their education.

Provides a 5-week summer employment program for youth. Participants receive a paid work experience at different business partner locations, and they are accompanied by a job coach who provides on the job training. Summer youth employers are typically in the retail or food service industries but other employers may also participate. Participants explore careers and receive soft skills and job readiness training and may take part in job shadowing visits. The program also provides pre-employment services that help them identify and achieve their employment goals.

Offers services to prepare eligible youth to enter either post-secondary education, training, or employment upon completion of their secondary (high school/GED) education. Services offered may include tutoring and educational instruction, occupational skill training, mentoring, and paid and unpaid work experiences, internships, and job shadowing.

The Out of School Youth Employment Program (also known as CCMEP or AMP) provides assistance for young adults to overcome barriers and work towards full time employment. Participants are provided services to support their individual goals, which may include help to obtain a high school diploma, job placement, work experience and other supportive services such as childcare and transportation.

Provides Comprehensive Case Management Employment program services, including, but are not limited to, case management, referrals, work experiences, occupational skills training, and barrier removal in order to move clients forward on an education or career pathway.

Through work experience, adult clients develop skills in work responsibilities, performance and interpersonal skills. Some services include paid employment and supportive services, such as rehabilitation engineering, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and physical therapy. Individualized and small group instruction in self-directed leisure activities, computer skills, and the like, are offered.

Summer Youth Programs are intended to promote a student’s transition from high school to post-secondary education, vocational training, or integrated employment. Services may include an evaluation of the consumer’s vocational needs, instruction on vocational topics such as interviewing skills, work behaviors, basic job readiness skills, and independent living skills, as well as integrated, community based work experiences. Staff work with students to learn job tasks and skills needed in the workplace. Students are paid Ohio minimum wage for work time.

Our employment program helps Daybreak youth develop the skills necessary to get and keep jobs. Lindy's Bakery, Daybreak’s dog treat bakery offers paid transitional job opportunities while youth gain valuable work experience.

Offers training on financial literacy, leadership skills, resume writing, interviewing, pre-employment skills, as well as Provides opportunities for paid work experience in a variety of settings, incentives when participants meet their goals, and continued follow-up support to assist them on their career path. Additionally, can provide supportive services including but not limited to, transportation to and from class and work sites, work-related clothing and equipment, driver’s permit and licensing reimbursement, and interview clothing.

Local employers can hire Knox County youth at no cost to their company and youth can be introduced to career fields through a program with Opportunity Knox. Opportunity Knox, the county employment center, launched a youth paid work experience program in early October, through which the wages of youth who participate are paid fully by OhioMeansJobs. Opportunity Knox arranges job placements for 12 weeks, with the option to extend for an additional eight weeks, for up to 32 hours per week. Once placements conclude, employers can offer participants a permanent position, although receiving a permanent offer is not guaranteed. Those who participate in the program also receive soft skills training and mentoring from an employment services counselor, who can help navigate issues like tardiness, miscommunication, etc., and thus prevent firings and quits.

Provides PATH which is a Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program (CCMEP) that can helps work-eligible youth and individuals ages 14-24 to build career paths and find employment. The program offers case management and a wide range of services specifically tailored to each individual to remove barriers to employment.

Offers a program designed to educate and train both immigrant and neighborhood youth in landscape maintenance. Projects include mowing, weeding, bush/tree trimming of vacant (city/county-owned) and private lots. Garden prep, fences, planters and pergola building are also included. Also entrepreneurial skills and extra spending money via stipends is provided. Youth participants will also participate in math, writing and reading skills tutoring. For most enrolled students in the Yard Corps program, orientation, ongoing training and Ohio Learning Standards study time with professional tutors will be offered.
