Dental OPTIONS (Ohio Partnership To Improve Oral health through access to Needed Services) is a partnership between the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) and the Ohio Dental Association that began in 1997 to assist older adults and the "working poor" access dental care. OPTIONS is a vital program to help our older adults with disabilities and/or compromising medical conditions, as well as other uninsured low-income adults with limited financial resources get needed dental care.
Patients are referred to safety nets and/or Medicaid first, when possible. If they still can't get dental care, then eligible patients are matched with volunteer dentists who treat the patients in their offices and have agreed to donate or discount the care.
