The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) offers various medical expense financial assistance programs to help individuals living with blood cancer.

Provides limited assistance on a case by case basis with medical needs.

Provides a State and Federally funded medical care benefit (a form of Medicaid) to low-income foreign nationals, immigrants, refugees/entrants/asylees, permanent residents and undocumented persons who are hospitalized for childbirth or experience an emergency medical condition during their stay in the county.

Provides financial assistance with the cost of breast-cancer related expenses. Pays for screening mammograms or other types of diagnostic procedures. Also offers a limited amount of financial assistance to pay for cancer-related expenses such as transportation, wigs, prosthesis, emergency living expenses, etc.

Provides Ryan White emergency financial assistance programs, HIV case management, HIV drug assistance program, Quality Management Program, Minority AIDS Initiative.

Provides assistance to children with special health care needs and their families through three different programs with varying eligibility. *Diagnostic Program: services for up to six months, from CMH-approved providers, to rule out or diagnose a special health care need or establish a plan of treatment. Services may include: Tests and x-rays Therapy evaluations Public health nursing services Visits to CMH-approved doctors Up to five days in the hospital *Treatment Program: services for one year, from CMH-approved providers, for treatment of an eligible condition. May include: laboratory tests, x-rays, physician visits, prescription medications, medical equipment and supplies, surgeries, hospitalizations, public health nursing services and therapies as well as service coordination. All services must be related to the child’s eligible condition. *Service Coordination Program: helps families locate and coordinate services for their child.

Assist the medical needs of families who have children with chronic medical conditions, behavioral health, and other special needs. Assist with medication costs, medical equipment, specialized formulas, reimbursement for gas costs and expenses to out of town medical appointments, speech, occupational, physical therapy co-pays, supplies..

Provides emergency funds to help pay utility, medical bills, prescription bills, and assist with gas cards. One time each year for residents in need in Columbiana, Greenford, Washingtonville, North Lima and New Waterford zip codes.

Provides free emergency suicide crisis care for veterans at any VA or non-VA healthcare facility including inpatient or crisis residential care for up to 30 days and outpatient care for up to 90 days. Veterans do not need to be enrolled in the VA system to use this benefit. Expenses will be free, paid for, or reimbursed.

Provides funds for the provision of health-related services for HIV+ individuals. Emergency assistance can be accessed to pay for medical appointments, medications, nutrition and other HIV related supportive services.

The types of surgery performed includes ear, nose and throat, general gynecologic, ophthalmologic, orthopedic, urologic joint surgery and AICD implants.

Provides financial grants of up to $5,000 for families who have children with critical medical needs not covered or not fully covered by their commercial health benefit plan. The Foundation aims to fill the gap between what medical services/items a child needs and what the commercial health benefit plan will pay. Grant awards are retroactive to sixty (60) days prior to the date of application and have an expiration date of approximately one year, unless the funds are exhausted prior to the expiration date. The grant will NOT cover any medical costs outside this date range.

Provides answers to patient questions about their present and future accounts, billing, or insurance. Also screens for any possible outside solution including, Marketplace insurance or Medicaid, before offering payment assistance or payment plans.

Veterans in acute suicidal crisis will be able to go to any VA or non-VA health care facility for emergency health care at no cost - including inpatient or crisis residential care for up to 30 days and outpatient care for up to 90 days. Veterans do not need to be enrolled in the VA system to use this benefit. This expansion of care will help prevent veteran suicide by guaranteeing no cost, world-class care to veterans in times of crisis. It will also increase access to acute suicide care for up to 9 million veterans who are not currently enrolled in VA.

Provides assistance to families of children with special health care needs by helping them locate a network of quality providers and financial assistance to pay for the services needed.

Provides diagnostic and treatment services for people whose illnesses or injuries require that they occupy a bed for at least one night.

Provides a State and Federally funded medical care benefit (a form of Medicaid) to foreign nationals, immigrants, refugees/entrants/asylees, permanent residents and undocumented persons who are hospitalized for childbirth or experience an emergency medical condition during their stay in the County, and who have limited resources. If eligibility is satisfied, the hospital will be paid directly for the care received. Other providers whose services are directly connected to the emergency event may also be paid, as determined on a case-by-case basis.

Provides financial assistance for individuals who cannot afford their insurance co-payments to cover the cost of medications for treating cancer.

Provides free hospital care for qualifying low-income, uninsured patients of University Hospitals campuses. Services not covered by HCAP are medically unnecessary treatments, transplant services, physician charges, ambulance and patient convenience items (telephone, parking, television, personal items).

Provides assisstance to help families pay for autism services not covered by traditional insurance or grants.

Offers financial assistance to Vietnam Veterans from any U.S. military Service branches who are injured from combat. Assistance includes: - Housing Grants: provides modifications, repairs, and adaptive home updates. - Family Support Grants: offers financial assistance for rent or mortgage. - Medical Care Grants: offers financial assistance to pay expenses not covered by insurance or VA. - Transportation Grants: provides adaptive vehicle or modifications to existing vehicle and vehicle repairs.

Assists children with special health care needs. Coordinates services, links with quality care and financial assistance for medical care and provides identification and referral of children with potentially handicapping conditions. Offers service coordination, advocacy, and public health nurse home visits to assist families in obtaining and coordinating services.

Coordinates assistance with eyeglasses, dental care, and limited funds for minor medical bills for school children of low-income families enrolled in Barberton School District.

Children with Medical Handicaps Program is a health care program at the Ohio Department of Health. CMH links families of children with special health care needs to a network of providers and helps families obtain payment for the medical bills and services their child needs.
