Provides counseling, case management, family and group therapy and crisis intervention services on a short-term basis for clients who demonstrate a need for support beyond prevention. Service includes counseling to deal with bereavement and trauma issues.

Offers a program to help new and experienced fathers with barriers to develop parenting skills. Curriculum includes addressing financial instability, communication issues and negative thought patterns to overcome in order to participate in a meaningful way in their children's lives.

Provides a program to increase parenting skills through positive reinforcement techniques. Classes provide information and practice that helps establish routines, communication, builds children's self-worth, rewards and punishments, personal power, handling stress and anger, praise and self-nurturing. Limited child care available during classes. Class includes a certificate of completion. Maximum of 10 parents/class.

Provides help for those starting or wanting advice on the development of their small business. Program has two tracks: one provides a comprehensive series of classes that explores and educates participants on all aspects of starting their own business. The second track provides direct help in evaluating and expanding businesses already in existence.

Offers a prenatal support program for low-income pregnant women. Provides in home case management services through Community Health Workers (CHW) who make regular home visits throughout the duration of the pregnancy and until the child turns three (3) years old. In addition, offers support, education, and resources via a telehealth option.

Provides college students with programs designed to equip them with skills, practical work experience and insights necessary to become successful in business, technical and/or allied health careers. Services include mentoring and leadership development activities. The goal is placement in a job following graduation, preferably with the sponsoring business. Also provides a support group for the parents of participants, who meet to assist the development of their children, to further their own professional development, and to plan fundraising activities. There is also an active alumni group.

Provides a variety of recreational and social activities including arts and crafts, social groups, exercise, and community gardening.

Provides a variety of services that cover women's health concerns, including, breast exams, pap smears, obstetrics/gynecological services, pregnancy testing, birth control, midwifery, and prenatal care, including care for high risk pregnancies. Offers testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases.

Provides culturally appropriate mental health counseling for a variety of conditions, including bereavement, mood disorders in pregnancy and postpartum, relationship work, teen parenting, and general counseling to adjust to life transitions.

Displays exhibitions and artifacts and provides tours and education programs on African American history and culture.

Provides an after school learning lab with computers, reading materials, and tutors. Overall focus is on literacy. Includes: service learning, college and career exploration, health and wellness, social skills and self-esteem, recreation trips, among other services. Also offers a competitive summer arts program where girls work with professional artist/teachers in several areas of the arts including: music and poetry composition, creative writing, dance, acting, or graphic design. Girls write music and lyrics, choreograph, perform, and record a CD of their work. Live performance at end of summer.

Provides the opportunity to get assistance with issues related to parenting, to apply for needed benefits, to participate in a job training program with the goal of employment and to discuss with a case manager a plan for family success. Service provided by professional social workers. Includes assistance with becoming a foster or adoptive parent, parenting skills for foster parents, adoption and foster care support groups and life skills education.

Offers a heart disease risk reduction program designed specifically for African-Americans. Topics include proper diet and nutrition.

Helps those minorities who are age 55 or older and of low income to improve the quality of their lives by obtaining paid employment and training. Individuals are placed in local non-profit agencies. Also will help in matters pertaining to housing information, health promotion and advocacy by giving referrals/suggestions as needed. Participants may be eligible for up to 4 years of employment.

Offers an academic enrichment and social responsibility program for youth to participate in projects that are led by mentors and are designed to teach life skills, promote self-discipline, self-respect, and personal responsibility, and provide educational experiences and exposure to different careers. May offer counseling and tutoring as part of this program. Parents are encouraged to participate.

Provides an annual black experience cultural series for the community with lectures by speakers, the creative work of visual and performing artists, videos, and film presentations.

Provides tutoring in math, reading, and language arts, as well as other character development curricula. Learning Center promotes fluency in reading and comprehension of math concepts, while developing self-determination and self-pride in their studies. Offers classes in computer use and leadership development.Youth development programs include African drumming, anger management, and martial science. Capacity of the program is 65.

Provides a mechanism to facilitate connections necessary to encourage social action and engagement through education, direct action, and community organizing. Focuses on stopping police brutality.

Provides an on-campus cultural heritage center featuring exhibits and programming about African, African-American, and African Diaspora history, life and culture. Offerings include workshops, films, videos and other educational programming related to the subject area. Provides meeting space for rent.

Provides specialized home-based prenatal services to African American mothers and their families with the goal of reducing infant mortality. Licensed community health workers are assigned to enrolled pregnant women to provide 1 or 2 in-home, monthly face-to-face visits that will continue until the child is 2 years old.

Offers a program to assist in building self-confidence and self awareness in an effort to resolve past trauma, avoid substance abuse and end cycles of poverty. Program includes sessions on resolving conflict before it escalates, managing money and building credit, time management, goal-setting, effective communication, critical thinking skills for problem solving, and avoiding premature fatherhood. Program may include participation in a golf program.

Provides workshops designed to develop life skills needed to decrease infant mortality, reduce stress, accomplish goals, and make health life choices.

Seeks to resolve complaints of racial discrimination mainly in housing, employment, clubs or associations, and education. Does not provide legal assistance. Will also seek to resolve complaints on the basis of religion, national origin, sexual orientation, ancestry, sex, disability, age, military status, and marital or familial status.

Provides a parenting class for fathers. Provides help to fathers to become more responsible, committed, and engaged in their children's lives. Program includes help for new or about-to-be fathers, parent support groups, and parent counseling.

Program is based on Africentric mentoring and rites of passage. Simba matches African American male youths with African American men from the community to act as role models and give friendship, support, and guidance to the young men. Mentors are assigned for a minimum of six months.
