Provides the opportunity for Black/African-American Greater Clevelanders to find safe support and share challenges.

Provides opportunities for older adults to give support and care to children who have special needs in school and daycare settings. Participants receive a small stipend, an annual physical examination, accident and liability insurance and meals during service hours.

Applicant services include: soft skill interview training, skills for successful employment, computer/technology training classes, mentoring and career coaching. Also works with local employees to host neighborhood hiring events.

An Africentric mentoring program committed to affirming the positive aspects of childhood while easing the transition to womanhood. Matches African American women to act as role models for African American girls. Mentor is assigned for a minimum of 6 months.

These meetings will address these groups' unique challenges in accessing mental health services and provide valuable information and resources to overcome these barriers. Focus on psychoeducation, group discussions, and hands-on activities to increase knowledge, reduce stigma, and improve access to mental health and substance abuse services.

Offers a dance class that focuses on traditional West African rhythms and dance techniques.

Provides a variety of services that cover women's health concerns, including, breast exams, pap smears, obstetrics/gynecological services, pregnancy testing, birth control, midwifery, and prenatal care, including care for high risk pregnancies. Offers testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases.

Offers a program to help new and experienced fathers with barriers to develop parenting skills. Curriculum includes addressing financial instability, communication issues and negative thought patterns to overcome in order to participate in a meaningful way in their children's lives.

Helps those minorities who are age 55 or older and of low income to improve the quality of their lives by obtaining paid employment and training. Individuals are placed in local non-profit agencies. Also will help in matters pertaining to housing information, health promotion and advocacy by giving referrals/suggestions as needed. Participants may be eligible for up to 4 years of employment.

Provides performing arts instruction for lifelong learners.

Provides screening, education, and treatment for a variety of diseases that affect more men of certain races and ethnicities than their races or ethnicities appear in the population. Typical screenings include prostate cancer, high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure, sickle cell anemia, and testicular cancer.

Provides a program to increase parenting skills through positive reinforcement techniques. Classes provide information and practice that helps establish routines, communication, builds children's self-worth, rewards and punishments, personal power, handling stress and anger, praise and self-nurturing. Limited child care available during classes. Class includes a certificate of completion. Maximum of 10 parents/class.

Displays exhibitions and artifacts and provides tours and education programs on African American history and culture.

Learning Center promotes fluency in reading and comprehension of math concepts, while developing self-determination and self-pride in their studies. Offers classes in computer use and leadership development.Youth development programs include African drumming, anger management, and martial science. Capacity of the program is 65.

Also provides basic information about income taxes, as well as State, Federal, and local Income Tax forms. Provides blood pressure screening and one on one evaluations from the agency staff, assessing needs around food, personal care, and other urgent matters.
