Prioritizing Us | Gathering Hope House

Offers community-based meetings and discussions for underrepresented minority populations in Lorain County. These meetings will address these groups' unique challenges in accessing mental health services and provide valuable information and resources to overcome these barriers. Focus on psychoeducation, group discussions, and hands-on activities to increase knowledge, reduce stigma, and improve access to mental health and substance abuse services.

Provides a program to increase parenting skills through positive reinforcement techniques. Classes provide information and practice that helps establish routines, communication, builds children's self-worth, rewards and punishments, personal power, handling stress and anger, praise and self-nurturing. Limited child care available during classes. Class includes a certificate of completion. Maximum of 10 parents/class.

Wisdom Keepers - Health, Forms | East End Neighborhood House

Provides information and assistance in completing forms to apply for various benefits and entitlements they may be eligible for. Also provides basic information about income taxes, as well as State, Federal, and local Income Tax forms. Provides blood pressure screening and one on one evaluations from the agency staff, assessing needs around food, personal care, and other urgent matters.

Helps those minorities who are age 55 or older and of low income to improve the quality of their lives by obtaining paid employment and training. Individuals are placed in local non-profit agencies. Also will help in matters pertaining to housing information, health promotion and advocacy by giving referrals/suggestions as needed. Participants may be eligible for up to 4 years of employment.

Sisterhood / Summer Of Sisterhood | West Side Community House

Provides an after school learning lab with computers, reading materials, and tutors. Overall focus is on literacy. Includes: service learning, college and career exploration, health and wellness, social skills and self-esteem, recreation trips, among other services. Also offers a competitive summer arts program where girls work with professional artist/teachers in several areas of the arts including: music and poetry composition, creative writing, dance, acting, or graphic design. Girls write music and lyrics, choreograph, perform, and record a CD of their work. Live performance at end of summer.

Moms And Babies First - Ohio'S Black Infant Vitality Program | Northeast Ohio Neighborhood Health Services

Provides specialized home-based prenatal services to African American mothers and their families with the goal of reducing infant mortality. Licensed community health workers are assigned to enrolled pregnant women to provide 1 or 2 in-home, monthly face-to-face visits that will continue until the child is 2 years old.
