Provides vaccinations for eligible veterans, caregivers, and dependents for COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots.

Provide Ross County Veterans with door-to-door transport during regular office hours to VAMC and VA outsourced medical appointments. Requests for transportation are accepted by phone and scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Provides first month's rent and security deposit to help veterans establish permanent housing. Will also help with rent to help veterans stay in their current housing. Clients are provided with benefits assistance, landlord/tenant assistance, and case management to ensure that they are connected to available community resources and VA benefits. Clients do not have to stay in the county they reside in (may move from county to county).

Offers a program to offer Veterans with the transition to civilian life that deals with traumas, both physical and mental, which could lead to their involvement with the criminal justice system. Provides Veterans access to programs, treatment, and interaction with mentors. Coordinates with the Summit County Fatherhood Initiative to address barriers that may be preventing them from connection with their children.

Provides certified service dogs to children and Veterans (agency provides the dog - a client cannot have their own pet trained to be a service dog). Once the dog is task trained for the child or Veteran, clients must attend a 10-day training class to learn how to work with their dogs.

Provides supportive services to low-income veterans and their families living in or transitioning to permanent housing. Offers outreach, case management, health care referrals, legal assistance referrals and help with fee payments, daily living costs and service referrals, housing counseling services, personal financial planning services, transportation expense assistance and assistance in obtaining VA and other benefits. Additionally, the program may also provide time-limited payments to third parties (ex. landlords, utility companies, moving companies and licensed child care providers) if these payments help veteran families stay in or acquire permanent housing on a sustainable basis.

Offers a walk-in food pantry serving veterans and their families through the Troop and Family Support Service (73rd TFAC Region 6 Rickenbacker ANGB) and through the Ohio Army National Guard RTI (DSCC-Defense Supply Center Columbus) Whitehall.

Provides school clothing/footwear voucher program for WalMart in either Mentor or Madison or Target in Mentor.

Provides chiropractic services for active military, Veterans, and their families. Chiropractors throughout the United States treat at least one (1) Armed Services member per week at no charge.

Offers an identification card to Veterans that serves as an alternative to the Armed Forces discharge record known as a DD Form 214 or DD214. The Veteran Identification Card serves as a convenient way to provide proof of military service and may be honored by Ohio merchants who give Veterans a discount. Businesses that honor the identification card for Veterans do so voluntarily and choose the savings they offer.

Provides substance abuse assessment, testing and referral for treatment.

Offers outpatient health care services for veterans. Operates an on-site pharmacy and will fill prescriptions written by VA physicians.

Provides primary care, general physical examinations, dermatology, and podiatry. Some sites offer geriatric assessments. Geriatric Evaluation is a health care visit with a team of experts that results in a treatment plan aimed at helping Veterans maintain good health, improve quality of life, reduce the need for hospital stays, and reduce the need for long term care services.

Provides assistive devices to help those who have been debilitated and evaluates what equipment would best fit the individual's needs.

Provides clinical evaluations to evaluate and determine the mental or emotional status of the client and will make referrals for treatment.

Offers financial assistance to eligible veterans and active military and their families. Not to be used as supplemental income.

Provides those eligible for VA educational benefits and institution Certifying Officials with information about approved programs and assists in the filing of VA documents. Approves educational and training programs for veterans and their families throughout the state of Ohio. Operates as a liaison between the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), educational institutions and the veteran student.

Offers eye and vision care including eye exams and treatment of eye diseases and injuries. Provides eyeglasses and eyeglass prescriptions. Will only provide contact lenses when they are a medical necessity.

Offers counseling for those suffering from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from trauma related to military service and reintegration counseling for veterans. Also offers counseling for veterans who are survivors of sexual assault.

Provides Medical Transportation Services: transportation to medical procedures and appointments for veterans. In some cases, may provide mileage reimbursement.

Assists veterans in a variety of ways. Provides food and clothing vouchers in emergency situations. In certain circumstances, provides assistance with paying for rent, rent deposit, mobile home lot rental fees, and utility payments (gas, electric, and water). Will help with transportation expenses (which is usually in the form of bus passes). Does not help with property taxes, car insurance, or car payments. Will consider other emergency needs that veterans and their eligible dependents may have on a case-by-case basis.

Offers mortgage-free homes to active military and veteran families donated to Operation Homefront. Homes were previous bank owned homes. Provides case management with personal financial counseling to recipient families for up to two (2) years after moving into the home to ensure financial stability.

Provides Patient Advocates to assist clients of the Veterans Affairs (VA) health system that need help getting care or getting their problems resolved. Clients should first bring suggestions or concerns regarding their to their treatment team (treatment team includes your doctor, nurse, social worker, dietitian, pharmacist, chaplain, therapist and other professionals associated with the client's medical care). If the client does not feel their concerns are not being addressed by their treatment team, they should contact a VA Patient Advocate.
